WWE Diva Natalya Talks Divas Revolution, SummerSlam, Tyson Kidd and More

Donald WoodAug 20, 2015

There are few women on the WWE roster with as much in-ring skill and experience as Natalya Neidhart, and the former Divas champion is just beginning to hit the prime of her career.

In addition to Natalya having a starring role in the E! Network series Total Divas, she is also featured on WWE programming as the manager of a tag team featuring her husband Tyson Kidd and Cesaro.

As seen on Total Divas, few people on earth love cats as much as Natalya.

The former Divas champion recently spoke with Ring Rust Radio (quotes courtesy of the News of Delaware County's Joe Arcidiacono) about working as a spokesperson for Friskies and her love of cats, her thoughts on the recent Divas revolution, the health of Kidd and so much more.

While there is no denying Natalya's love of cats, she also loves wrestling. As a third-generation performer and a member of the famed Hart wrestling family, the sport is in her blood, and she is one of the most talented women's wrestlers on earth.

As great as Natalya has been during her career, she is currently on the sidelines watching as the WWE undergoes a Divas revolution. There is no doubt that while the strides being made by the female performers are incredible, the division needs more Natalya to be even better.

When asked about the Divas revolution and its place at the 2015 edition of SummerSlam on Sunday, Neidhart spoke honestly:

"

I get that question right now more than any other question. It's awesome that the Divas are finally getting their chance to showcase their talent. All of our Divas on the main roster and NXT just wanted a chance to show what they could do. If you have the talent, why not back it up? It's really cool to see Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch getting this opportunity, and of course I would love to be a part of it. In some ways, I want to give them a big hug after their matches and tell them how proud I am of what they did, but at the same time I want to be a part of it too. We will see what happens, but I understand that timing is everything. Like they say, sometimes they save the best for last. I want to try and go for the Divas championship again. If you are in the women's division and you're not trying to be the Divas champion, then what are you doing in the Divas division? You should always want to be the best and believe in yourself. The WWE is all about empowering yourself and reaching your dreams.

"

One of the reasons Natalya hasn't been featured more heavily on WWE television in recent weeks was partially due to a serious neck injury Kidd suffered. As the manager of Kidd's tag team, Natalya has been left in limbo.

With fans concerned for Kidd's health, Natalya fills everyone in with a medical update:

"

Tyson is doing really well. John Cena and him have a competition to see who is more mutant like in their recovery process. I saw John last week and when I saw his nose I almost forgot he had a serious injury. His nose looked totally normally even though not long ago it was totally to the side of his face. TJ is no different than John in the sense that he is strong and a soldier. It also has given him a chance to bond more with our cats. We are taking it one day at a time and being very appreciative of what we do have. TJ is getting his fill of the WWE network right now. He is bonding with the cats, he isn't eating the Friskies like the cats are, but they are having some quality time right now. He is doing really well, and one day he will come back and knock everybody's socks off.

"

It was an unfortunate mistake that Kidd was injured, but the WWE should be using Natalya as one of the key players in the Divas revolution. As one of the veterans on the roster and an in-ring technician, Natalya should be squaring off against the best.

With a history against Charlotte, Naomi and Paige and plenty of potential for great matches against Sasha Banks, most fans can agree that Natalya should be a featured star in this nine-woman SummerSlam match instead of Tamina Snuka or Alicia Fox.

One of the reasons Natalya has made it this far in her career is her ability to roll with the punches, take the storylines she is handed and make the most of them. The hope from most fans, though, is that WWE gives her more time in the ring moving forward.

Whatever the future holds for Natalya, her positive outlook on wrestling and her infectious charisma make her a fan favorite. Now she just needs the chance to show just how good she is technically against the new crop of Divas.
