C.J. Gardner Johnson Shares Cryptic Meme After Mike Vrabel Trolled Bills DB for Efton Chism Shade

Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is seemingly laughing about the verbal jabs he's exchanged with members of the New England Patriots since his team lost to their AFC East rival last Sunday.

Gardner-Johnson shared a meme on social media the day after Patriots coach Mike Vrabel trolled him in a radio show appearance.

The exchange started when Gardner-Johnson made a postgame comment about wide receiver Efton Chism III, who used one hand to haul down his game-winning touchdown catch in the Patriots' 29-26 Week 4 win.

"An elevated guy made a helluva catch. Probably won't hear from him again... A practice-squad player made a hell of a play," Gardner-Johnson said about Chism after Sunday's loss.

Vrabel was then asked about Gardner-Johnson's comments in a Monday appearance on WEEI's The Greg Hill Show.

"For a guy that's been on eight teams in four years? I mean, I guess he knows the drill," Vrabel said about Gardner-Johnson.

Chism has been a member of the Patriots since he made the 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent in 2025. Gardner-Johnson has made regular-season appearances for six teams over eight seasons.

This likely will not be the last time Gardner-Johnson's comments come up this season. These two teams are set to square off again Sunday, Dec. 6 during a Week 13 game in Foxborough.

The Patriots will by then hope to have A.J. Brown back in the lineup. Brown's injured reserve placement is part of the reason Chism played a season-high 34 snaps in Sunday's win over the Bills.
