Gibson is considered by 247Sports' composite rankings to be the No. 15 player in the class of 2027 and the No. 3 combo guard in the country. Gibson holds offers from countless schools, with Baylor, Louisville, Arkansas and Providence joining LSU as his top choices.
He visited all five programs over the past few months before ultimately landing on the Tigers.
Gibson is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, but is gearing up for his second season at SPIRE Academy, a nationally coveted basketball program in Ohio.
Gibson marks the second commitment for LSU out of the class of 2027. He joins Ahmad Hudson, a 5-star power forward who is ranked as the No. 19 player in his class.
To say that LSU basketball is a team in need of a spark would be an understatement. The Tigers have not made the NCAA tournament since the final season of Wade's first tenure in 2022.
With Matt McMahon leading the way over the past four years, the Tigers have finished better than .500 just one time. They went 15-17 overall and 3-15 in conference play, finishing second-to-last in the SEC.
LSU brought Wade back this spring and is hoping his second stint with the team will lead to the success the school has been after for years. After landing a top recruit on Sunday, it's safe to say Wade is building a competitive program.
