WWE, AEW Rumors on LA Knight Heel Turn, Will Ospreay Blasting WWE and Steven Borden Injury Update

WWE Reportedly Not Interested in Knight Heel Turn

Despite speculation on how it could fit into the storyline, a heel turn reportedly isn't likely in the cards for LA Knight.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), WWE decision-makers "don't wanna" turn Knight heel, largely because of the hugely positive babyface reactions he routinely receives.

Knight is in the midst of a rivalry with Roman Reigns, and he is set to challenge The Tribal Chief for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank on Oct. 10.

A central part of Knight's character in recent years has been his disdain for Reigns and The Bloodline, making him the perfect person to attempt to put an end to The OTC's run of dominance.

While Reigns has not been heavily involved in it, his Bloodline brethren have been embroiled in a heated feud with 946, who just added Jaida Parker to their group on Raw this week.

After kidnapping Solo Sikoa last week, 946 took out Jacob Fatu this week, as Parker hit him with her vehicle.

Given that 946 has been so heavily committed to destroying The Bloodline, there has been some online speculation that Knight could be the one pulling the strings.

While it would be a great storyline twist and a potential way to put the world title on Knight, it would be understandably tough for WWE to turn its back on the connection Knight clearly has with the viewing audience.

WWE Reportedly Not Dissuaded by Ospreay's Comments

People within WWE were reportedly not impacted by AEW world champion Will Ospreay's comments following All Out on Saturday night.

After Ospreay beat Jon Moxley in the All Out main event to retain his title, he offered a word of warning to WWE about attempts to counter-program AEW.

"Anytime anyone wants to come and step up to us, here's reality for you: we're gonna knock you down two f--king levels," Ospreay told reporters. "We are the best pro wrestling in the entire f--king world. Do not f--king step to us ever again."

All Out was held at Now Arena in the Chicago suburb of Hoffman Estates. However, at the same time, WWE ran its Worlds Collide show in the nearby Chicago suburb of Rosemont at Allstate Arena.

While WWE did draw more fans at an arena with a higher capacity, AEW still sold all 9,456 tickets it released, per WrestleTix.

Ospreay's words and AEW's successful night are reportedly not expected to deter WWE from similar actions in the future, though.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t H Jenkins of Ringside News), WWE's reaction to Ospreay saying to not "step to" AEW again is, "Well, we're going to, time and time again."

WrestleVotes added that last weekend in Chicago was only the "beginning" of WWE running head-to-head with AEW.

While WWE has held events on the same night as AEW pay-per-views on multiple occasions, last weekend marked a change in philosophy in that WWE decided to run an event in the same town and at the same time as an AEW show.

Worlds Collide did not air live, but it will stream Wednesday night on YouTube, head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

WWE has yet to shy away from competition with AEW, and it sounds like that will continue to be the case moving forward.

Injury Update on Steven Borden After All Out

Positive updates have emerged regarding Steven Borden's health following a scary spot Saturday at AEW All Out.

During a tag team match pitting Borden and Darby Allin against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher, Borden and Knight spring-boarded into each other, but Borden had a rough landing, as he appeared to hit the back of his head on the mat.

After being checked by the referee and a doctor, the decision was made to call off the match at that point.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Geno Mrosko of Cageside Seats) reported that Borden is "okay," and that he heard Borden was going to be able to fly home from Chicago.

That comes after AEW president Tony Khan told reporters following All Out that Borden was "awake and responsive," at the hospital, and that "all the tests have come back good."

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (h/t Mrosko) added that if Borden continues to recover at his current rate, he could return to the ring within the next few weeks.

Borden, who is the son of legendary pro wrestler Sting, began his wrestling career late last year.

He has less than 40 career matches to his credit, and the vast majority of them have been dark matches wrestled prior to episodes of Dynamite and Collision.

All Out was unquestionably the biggest match of his career to date, and although it didn't go according to plan, every indication is that Borden is on the road to recovery.
