MLB Wild Card Rosters Announced for Red Sox vs. Yankees, Phillies vs. Braves, All Series

The MLB playoffs officially begin on Tuesday, and the rosters for the Wild Card round have been unveiled.

Teams had until 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday to submit their final rosters for the start of the postseason.

While multiple teams had to make tough roster decisions based on untimely injuries, the most glaring omission is Yankees three-time AL MVP Aaron Judge being left off their roster due to his ongoing recovery from a calf strain. The star slugger missed more than three months this season after suffering a fractured rib, and he injured his calf in his seventh game back in the lineup.

Judge had previously expressed optimism that he would be able to return in time for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Red Sox, despite Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicating that he would be sidelined.

"My goal is to come back as soon as I can," Judge told reporters last week. "That's what we're doing right now. If he says I'm not going to be ready, I've got no control over that. I got control over what I can do to try to get back as soon as I can. If you ask me if I'm gonna be back, I'm gonna tell you, I'm doing everything I can every single day I show up here to get back and be ready to go."

Now, the Yankees will officially have to forge ahead in their wild-card series against the Red Sox without their team captain on the field. New York has a talented pitching rotation led by AL Cy Young favorite Cam Schlittler, but the hitters will have to step up if the team wants to avoid another early playoff exit.
