Trick Williams Wins WWE US Title After Lil Yachty 'Survives' vs. Baron Corbin at SNME

Lil Yachty made it five minutes without getting beaten by Baron Corbin at WWE Sunday Night's Main Event, and Trick Williams promptly defeated Corbin, making him the United States Champion.

Corbin's rivalry with Trick and Yachty dates back to the July 10 episode of SmackDown, which saw Corbin make his WWE return after nearly two years away.

He interrupted a U.S. title match between Williams and Carmelo Hayes by attacking both of them, and that was enough to earn Corbin a title opportunity at SummerSlam.

Thanks in part to throwing Trick off his game by putting Yachty through a table, Corbin managed to upset Williams and become a two-time United States champion in the process.

Williams immediately went to work at trying to secure a rematch, but Corbin wasn't willing to hand one out unless he was able to dictate some of the terms.

After Yachty attacked Corbin with the Trick Stick kendo stick on a couple of occasions, Corbin devised a plan that would finally allow him to get his hands on the popular rapper.

Corbin proposed a match between him and Yachty with a five-minute time limit for Sunday Night's Main Event in Yachty's hometown of Atlanta.

He noted that if Yachty could avoid getting pinned or submitted for five minutes, then Trick would get a rematch. However, if Corbin could beat Yachty in the allotted time, Williams would not be permitted to challenge him for the U.S. title again.

Despite the size and strength disparity between Corbin and Yachty, Trick agreed to the stipulation and put his faith in his manager and friend.

That proved to be the right move, as Yachty showed his toughness and resilience by lasting five minutes in the ring with Corbin and securing Williams another shot at the United States Championship—and ultimately the belt.
