New Cowboys Rumors Reveal Potential CB Target After Von Miller's Contract in NFL Free Agency

Timothy RappAug 16, 2026

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly a team to watch when it comes to free agent cornerback Adoree' Jackson, according to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Jackson, who previously worked with new Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker in Philadelphia, reportedly "has interest from a few teams."

The Cowboys already addressed the pass defense on Sunday, signing veteran edge-rusher Von Miller.

Miller will join a revamped outside linebacker group that includes offseason acquisition Rashan Gary, first-round pick Malachi Lawrence, Donovan Ezeiruaku and Sam Williams, among others.

The Cowboys also made major changes to the secondary in the offseason, signing cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick and safeties Jalen Johnson and P.J. Locke while also drafting Ohio State standout Caleb Downs to serve as a safety and slot corner.

Major changes were needed. The Cowboys ranked last in the NFL in both pass yards allowed (251.5 YPG) and points allowed (30.1 PPG) last season, ranked 31st in passing touchdowns allowed (35) and were tied for 22nd in sacks (35).

It was rough.

Granted, Jackson would be just a depth addition. The Eagles started him as the outside corner opposite of Quinyon Mitchell in their nickel packages, though slot corner Cooper DeJean often played opposite Mitchell in base. This offseason the Eagles sought an upgrade on the outside, signing former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen.

In 14 games last season (10 starts), the 30-year-old Jackson registered 55 tackles, one interception and 11 passes defensed. PFF gave him a grade of 54.6, ranking him 90th among 114 qualified cornerbacks. Not exactly inspiring stuff.

DaRon Bland and Cobie Durant are expected to start on the outside and Downs at slot corner, leaving Jackson to compete with Shavon Revel Jr. and Caelen Carson for the CB4 role if he ultimately chooses Dallas. The Miller signing will have Cowboys fans feeling a bit more excited than the possibility of adding Jackson, however.
