Mike Vrabel Reveals If He Thinks Tom Brady Spoke to Seahawks HC Before Patriots' Super Bowl 60 Loss

Tom Brady made it clear before last season's Super Bowl that he wouldn't be cheering for Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots, and Vrabel believes Brady talked to Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald before the game.

But even if Brady and Macdonald talked ahead of the Super Bowl, Vrabel said that isn't why his team lost.

"Probably, he hired his offensive coordinator," Vrabel said. "That's not why we lost the game. We talk to a lot of people. There's a lot of film; it's not why we lost the game. I don't know. I'm sure they talked, he hired his offensive coordinator."

Brady, of course, spent the bulk of his career with the Patriots and won seven Super Bowls, but the Las Vegas Raiders minority owner clarified before the Super Bowl that he wasn't picking sides.

"I don't have a dog in the fight in this one," he said. "May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England, and I'm glad everyone's embraced the Mike Vrabel regime, all the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position. We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it's a very exciting time for everyone in New England."

Macdonald said last month that he talked to "one guy that really helped us out that had some conflict of interest" before the game, but he later clarified that he wasn't talking about Brady.

Still, it's fair to assume Brady spoke to Macdonald in some capacity before the game. After all, he and the Raiders hired Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to be their new head coach days before the Super Bowl.

Regardless, Vrabel doesn't think his former teammate gave Seattle an edge in the Super Bowl, and he also isn't bothered by the fact that Brady wasn't rooting for New England in February.

"Clearly, Tom's gone out of his way to make it known that he has a new job and a new role, and it is really what it is," Vrabel said. "Tom's a friend; he'll always be a friend; he's a former teammate."
