New Brandon Aiyuk Rumors on Commanders' Interest Revealed After 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall's Injury

The Washington Commanders' interest in San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has reportedly decreased after recent social media posts, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner and John Keim.

"The phrase you'll hear is 'never say never,' but there's been a definite cooling of the Commanders' interest after Aiyuk's Instagram postings over the past month, including some about Daniels," the ESPN duo wrote.

Aiyuk, who is currently San Francisco's team's reserve/left squad list, has made it clear in various ways that he'd like to be a Washington Commander.

However, he's also made posts lately that certainly draw significant pause, including shots at his friend, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Daniels told reporters last week that he and Aiyuk "handled everything privately."

As of now, Aiyuk remains a member of the 49ers, although it's been made clear that his time there is up, per general manager John Lynch.

"I'm personally, and we as an organization, are going to focus on the players who are here," Lynch told reporters on Saturday, July 25. "We wish him well, we wish his family well."

The latest report on Aiyuk dropped two days after the 49ers revealed that promising wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was selected 31st overall in the 2024 NFL draft, is out for this season with a PCL injury in his right knee. The timeline for recovery is six to 12 months. San Francisco has since signed an old friend in wideout Deebo Samuel, who played for the 49ers from 2019-2024 and made the All-Pro First Team in 2021.
