Juan Soto Injury Update, Return Timeline for Mets After Exiting vs. Dodgers

New York Mets star Juan Soto has been placed on the injured list with a left calf strain, per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Eric Wagaman has been called up as a replacement.

The news comes after Soto was removed from the team's matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday due to left calf soreness.

According to DiComo, Soto has been dealing with a "mild" calf injury.

Mets interim manager Andy Green told reporters Friday night that Soto would undergo an MRI on Saturday and acknowledged there was some concern over a stint on the injured list.

The five-time All-Star recorded two walks against Los Angeles before he exited the game.

He was replaced in the Mets' lineup by Jorge Polanco.

Soto previously spent time on the 10-day injured list due to a right calf strain that he suffered in April.

While he later returned for New York, he departed the team's 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on July 16 due to left calf soreness.

Soto has since started at designated hitter to limit the stress on his calf, but it seems as though soreness has become an issue once again.

The Mets have failed to meet expectations this season, sitting at the bottom of the National League East standings with a 43-60 record heading into Friday's action.

Still, Soto has remained productive at the plate.

He's hitting .283 with eight doubles, 21 home runs and 52 RBI in 84 games during his 2026 campaign. Soto's .947 OPS is the highest among all NL players.

With Soto out of the lineup, Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien and Franciso Lindor will need to step up at the plate if the Mets have any hope of remaining in playoff contention.
