Duke vs. Michigan Reportedly Removed from 2026 CBB Schedule, Full Details Revealed

Duke and Michigan won't stage a rematch of their entertaining battle from last season, according to CBS Sports' Matt Norlander.

Norlander cited "ongoing complexities with pulling off the matchup under unique circumstances" as leading the two schools to walk away from their planned December encounter.

The Blue Devils will instead face off with Texas Tech at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21.

Duke and Michigan initially ran into problems with trying to play in New York City because they were under the impression that Prime Video wouldn't be able to have the broadcasting rights.

This was supposed to be part of a three-game deal between Duke and Amazon. The other two will see the Blue Devils will take on UConn (Nov. 25) and then Gonzaga (Feb. 20).

Duke and Michigan pivoted to LoanDepot Park in Miami as a new location with MSG off the table. However, Norlander reported the event was "still coming under dispute from broadcast television partners."

The departure of Wolverines coach Dusty May played a role as well since his relationship with Marlins owner Bruce Sherman was one reason why the MLB franchise stepped up to the plate.

Duke vs. Michigan Part 2 would've been one of the most highly anticipated nonconference games of the season. The teams occupied the first two spots in Bleacher Report's early 2026-27 power rankings following the Wolverines' national championship win.

Duke vs. Texas Tech at least figures to be a Top 25 clash.
