This week's episode is the last chance anyone has to make it on the TakeOver card, so the pressure is on. Let's take a look at what's on tap for Wednesday's show.
The Men
Three singles matches are scheduled for this week's show. The first will see Tye Dillinger take on Solomon Crowe.
Dillinger will be debuting a new gimmick, which could be a sign that he is finally up for a push. He has shown a lot of potential in his role as a jobber, so it will be interesting to see how he performs when the spotlight is on him.
Crowe, on the other hand, has been struggling ever since he first debuted. A win here could put him back on the right track.
The second bout will feature Baron Corbin taking on yet another local talent, which we all know is code for enhancement talent.
At this point, these quick victories are doing nothing for the powerhouse. If Corbin is going to be taken seriously as a dangerous man, management needs to start booking him against guys with credibility.
His short feud with Rhyno proved he can handle a match lasting longer than one minute, but we need to see how he performs in longer bouts before he will make it to the main roster.
The third and final match featuring the men of NXT will see Finn Balor battle Marcus Louis in a non-title contest.
Louis is a good hand in the ring. He is capable of producing a good performance with Balor as long as they are given enough time to work with.
Seeing as Balor is about to defend the NXT Championship against Kevin Owens at TakeOver, it seems far-fetched that he would lose this bout.
He needs momentum heading into his title defense, and an easy win over a guy such as Louis should do the trick. However, if Louis pulls off an upset, it could put him in line for a future shot at the belt.
The Women
The main event of the evening is one fans of the Divas revolution will be excited about. Becky Lynch will be wrestling Bayley to see who gets a shot at Sasha Banks' Women's Championship at TakeOver: Brooklyn.
We have seen Lynch and Bayley in the ring before, but this time they are both babyfaces. That might seem like an incidental detail, but what it's going to do is split the crowd on who to support.
Lynch has been received well by the WWE Universe on the main roster, but there is no denying the way the fans connect with Bayley. In a sea of serious characters, tough guys and Amazon women, Bayley has taken a gimmick that could have been a huge joke and made it into something everyone loves.
With Banks, Lynch and Charlotte all moving to the main roster at once, it leaves a power vacuum in the women's division. It's time for Bayley to step up and rule the division like we all know she can.
If Bayley manages to beat Lynch and then win the title at TakeOver, you can bet everyone backstage will be getting a hug. What are you looking forward to on this week's NXT?
