WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for August 13

Erik BeastonAug 11, 2015

On the heels of Raw and a WWE World Heavyweight Championship defense against Randy Orton, Seth Rollins arrived in Portland for Tuesday night's SmackDown tapings and found himself confronted by Superstars he has become quite familiar with in recent weeks.

Cesaro, Kevin Owens and Neville all interrupted the champion's opening promo, making it known that they wanted another shot at the top prize in the industry.

What happened from there? And did Rollins have anything to say about John Cena accepting his challenge for a match at SummerSlam during this week's episode of Tough Enough?

Analysis

The spoilers for this week's show certainly indicate that, more so than recent episodes, Thursday's SmackDown is more focused on building toward SummerSlam and some of that show's midcard bouts.

The Reigns-Ambrose-Wyatt Family feud is highlighted with a showdown between Reigns and Luke Harper, the intercontinental champion gets a bit of spotlight, the tag teams take center stage and Charlotte beats Naomi to further the Divas revolution story.

The biggest surprise on the entire road to SummerSlam thus far is the fact that Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens has not officially been announced as of yet. The two tremendous in-ring workers have been feuding for weeks so for them to be waiting this close to one of the year's premier bouts without a formally announced match is a bit striking.

Their presence in the tag team main event, like Monday's Triple Threat match, suggests that management values them and wants them in a prime position heading into the show. So why make it feel like such a last-minute addition to the card instead of building it as one of the more important bouts on the broadcast?

Rollins continues to be the most consistent and reliable star the company has. The top heel, he pulls double duty on a weekly basis and continues to improve his heel act with every passing week.

Whereas most shows are passable, the key happenings covered on Raw or even via WWE's YouTube channel, this week's broadcast looks like one worth checking out.

The talent in the main event alone suggests a great wrestling match while Charlotte and Naomi could surprise if given enough time. Roman Reigns and Luke Harper are two of the best wrestlers in WWE in 2015 so their bout midway through the taping is certainly one to watch.
