Jalen Brunson Declared Face of NBA by Anthony Edwards After Knicks' Title Win
The "face of the league" topic routinely comes up when discussing professional sports, and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was asked about it during a Fanatics Fest discussion.
He gave his opinion on the matter and cited New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson after he just won a championship.
"The face of the league comes with a lot of responsibilities, and I think one of those is winning the championship, and I haven't did that yet so, maybe Jalen Brunson or one of those guys," Edwards said.
Brunson has dramatically risen in popularity and acclaim after leading the Knicks to their first NBA title in 53 years in remarkable fashion, including monumental comebacks and some of the best playoff games and postseason performances in recent memory.
He's certainly one of the league's most popular players. LeBron James and Stephen Curry probably have the strongest cases, given their respective resumes, tremendous longevity and current NBA success.
However, Brunson authoring an amazing postseason in the league's biggest media market for one of the Association's most popular teams helps matters, too. Ultimately, Brunson can make his case of one as the league's faces, for sure, and one of the game's top stars in Edwards certainly feels he's worthy of that recognition.
