New Mets Trade Rumors Reveal Plans Before Deadline, Francisco Lindor Deal Not 'Off the Table'
The New York Mets are seemingly preparing for a fire sale at the trade deadline, and the team reportedly isn't against the idea of trading one of its stars.
Per SNY's Chelsea Jane, the Mets are open to moving everyone outside of Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing, Christian Scott, Nolan McLean and Juan Soto. While New York hasn't explicitly placed Francisco Lindor on the trade block, Jane noted that "no one has said he is off the table either."
Lindor has battled injuries this year and has played just 40 games, hitting 5 homers and 12 RBI while slashing .216/.298/.373. While he hasn't had his usual success, he's coming off a season in which he collected 31 home runs and 86 RBI while hitting .267.

Buzz: Skubal Asking Price 'Outrageous'
Any team willing to trade for Lindor would have to take on his pricey contract, which has five years and $155 million remaining on it. Janes noted that a deal would likely have to include 2027 big-league talent back to the Mets.
Another factor is Lindor's trade clause. The 32-year-old was asked whether he'd be willing to waive it last month, to which he answered "no comment," per Joel Sherman of The New York Post.
As for other possible trade candidates, The Athletic's Will Sammon noted earlier this month that Bo Bichette has a "slim" chance of being traded because of his contract, and catcher Luis Torrens is also likely staying put because of his recent contract extension.
Reliever Luke Weaver and catcher Francisco Alvarez, however, are both possible trade candidates, according to Sammon.
Janes reported a few weeks ago that the Mets are after the "best talent available regardless of position, minor league level, or major league readiness."
The Mets, who fired manager Carlos Mendoza last month, are currently last in the NL East at 40-57 with virtually no chance to reach the postseason at this point. New York might not be heading towards a complete rebuild, but it seemingly is ready to shift focus to 2027.
