Paul George's Celtics Jersey Number Revealed in Photo After Jaylen Brown Trade
Paul George is going back to a familiar number.
After wearing No. 8 with the Philadelphia 76ers, George will wear No. 13 with the Boston Celtics. George wore No. 13 when he was with the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers, which is why he earned the nickname PG-13.
George did start his career with the Pacers wearing No. 24 but switched to No. 13 after three years.
However, he wasn't able to wear No. 13 with the 76ers because it was retired for Wilt Chamberlain. So he chose No. 8 as a way of honoring Kobe Bryant.
Alas, the 76ers traded him to the Celtics as part of the package to land Jaylen Brown in one of this offseason's marquee trades.
Brown was an All-NBA Second Team selection who finished sixth in MVP voting last season, so George will have his work cut out for him replicating that type of impact with Boston. While George was once one of the best two-way players in the league, he is 36 years old and no longer at his peak.
Still, he can be an important playmaker who takes advantage of the spacing created by playing alongside Jayson Tatum.
And he will be doing so with a familiar jersey number.
