Vince Young Supports Chris Johnson with ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and Tags Titans, Lil Wayne & More
Retired quarterback Vince Young performed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in support of former Tennessee Titans teammate Chris Johnson.
Young passed the challenge on to other Titans players from 2006-12 in addition to rapper Lil Wayne and actor Glen Powell.
Johnson announced earlier this week he has been diagnosed with ALS.
"It's continued to progress much faster than I ever imagined," he told Good Morning America's Michael Strahan. "I want people to understand just how quickly ALS can attack your body. Just over a year ago, I was picking up my 7-year-old daughter so she'd make a wish with her birthday cake. Today, I couldn't do that."
Johnson played 10 years in the NFL and spent his first six seasons in Tennessee. He and Young played together from 2008-10.
The Ice Bucket Challenge was first popularized in 2014 as a way to raise awareness toward ALS. The ALS Association estimates it has helped to raise $220 million.
Johnson asked fans this week to revive the Ice Bucket Challenge.
"Let's bring back the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge," he said. "Grab a bucket, challenge 3 people and if you can, donate to help fund ALS research."
Johnson initially challenged former Titans teammates LenDale White and Adam Jones along with five-time Pro Bowler Marshawn Lynch.
