49ers' Brandon Aiyuk Dances in New Video, 'Gone Be a Commander Soon' amid NFL Rumors

Scott PolacekJul 2, 2026

Brandon Aiyuk continues to believe he is going to be a member of the Washington Commanders and continues to post videos on social media.

The wide receiver took to social media Thursday and posted yet another video. The latest one featured him dancing with the caption, "Mood cuz I'm gone be a Commander soon."

Aiyuk mentioning the Commanders in his videos is nothing new.

He previously posted one that said he was "back on tour" and tickets could be found on the team's website. What's more, he said the situation with the San Francisco 49ers was so untenable that he wouldn't step inside their facilities again except for when Washington visited Levi's Stadium to play.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was college teammates with Aiyuk at Arizona State, and Washington general manager Adam Peters previously worked with the 49ers' front office when they drafted the wide receiver.

The connections are there, but it doesn't seem like the Commanders or any other team are in a hurry to trade for him as the social–media videos continue.

In a span of videos, Aiyuk called the 49ers "stupid," put money in a backpack and spread it around his closet floor, called out the NFL Players Association for not supporting his best interests, and insulted 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch and his now-former agent, Ryan Williams.

The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala reported the Commanders have not given significant consideration to trading for the wide receiver even though earlier in the offseason they were "willing to consider" a "highly incentivized" contract.

There have also been reports this offseason that teams are waiting for what seems like his inevitable release and don't want to give up assets in a trade.

Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million contract with San Francisco after the team reached the Super Bowl during the 2023 season, but he is yet to play since he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in 2024.

The ugly situation between player and team has included the 49ers voiding his remaining guaranteed money after he didn't participate in rehab sessions for the injuries and also placing him on the reserve/left team list.

Lynch has also said he played his last snap with the 49ers.

Perhaps he will eventually end up with the Commanders, which could use another game-changing wide receiver outside of Terry McLaurin. For now, though, there are more questions than answers when it comes to the Aiyuk situation.
