New Jamal Murray Rumors as Nuggets Explore 'Every Possible Trade Option' Ahead of NBA Free Agency
The Denver Nuggets have been unable to replicate their success from the 2022-23 season, when they won an NBA title, and now the team is looking into trading some of its best players.
After Nuggets president and governor Josh Kroenke said in May that "everything's going to be on the table outside of trading Nikola (Jokić)," Denver has explored trade options for Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, according to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.
Stein and Fischer noted that "it is widely believed" that the Nuggets prefer to trade either Christian Braun or Cam Johnson, but they are still looking into deals for Murray and Gordon.
Murray, 29, had the best season of his career in 2025-26, putting up 25.4 points, 7.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds on his way to his first All-Star appearance. He struggled a bit in Denver's opening round loss to the Timberwolves, posting 23.7 points on a lackluster 35.7 percent from the field and 26.2 percent from deep.
Gordon was solid when he played, but injuries held him to 36 games, and he missed half of the first round against Minnesota.
A core of Jokić, Murray and Gordon has won a championship before, but with the Western Conference getting better by the year, it's clear the Nuggets need to make a change this offseason.
Whether they'll have to part with two of their most important players remains to be seen.
