OG Anunoby, Jose Reyes Swap Jerseys Ahead Knicks Star Throwing Out 1st Pitch at Mets Game
It has been a season to forget for the New York Mets, but perhaps bringing in an NBA champion to throw out the first pitch before Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies can help turn things around.
New York Knicks star OG Anunoby will throw out the first pitch and exchanged jerseys with former Mets player José Reyes ahead of the opportunity:

It's safe to say Anunoby is not lacking in confidence when it comes to the pitch:
He was also fired up to exchange jerseys with someone he used to use in the virtual world:
Reyes played in Major League Baseball for 16 seasons from 2003 through 2018. While he also suited up for the Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays, he primarily played for the Mets.
In fact, the infielder played 12 of his seasons for the National League East team with one stint coming from 2003-11 and the second from 2016-18.
He was at his best during his first time with the Mets as a four-time All-Star who finished in the top 30 of MVP voting five different times. One of those times came when he led the league with a .337 batting average in 2011, while the other came when he took home a Silver Slugger award in 2006 with a .300/.354/.487 slash line, 30 doubles, 19 home runs, 17 triples and 81 RBI.
Reyes also led the league with 64 steals that season, which was the second of three straight years he would lead the league in that category.
He was even better in 2007 with 78 stolen bases before he led the league with 204 hits in 2008.
It's no wonder Anunoby was choosing Reyes when he was looking for a speedy base-stealer when he was playing MLB 2K8.
Yet for all those individual accomplishments, Reyes is missing a championship from his baseball resume. The same cannot be said about Anunoby, who won a title with the Toronto Raptors but most notably helped lead the Knicks to the NBA championship this past season.
Jalen Brunson took home the NBA Finals MVP for his individual brilliance, but New York may not have defeated the San Antonio Spurs without Anunoby's heroics.
His winning tip-in in the final seconds of Game 4 was arguably the most memorable moment of the series and completed the Knicks' record-setting 29-point comeback. They seized a commanding 3-1 lead in the series as a result instead of having to go back to San Antonio for Game 5 with things tied at two apiece.
Anunoby will surely always be a hero in New York because of that, and now he will draw quite the response from Mets fans as he starts their game against the Phillies with the first pitch.
