Giannis' Brothers Potential Additions to Heat Roster Revealed in New NBA Rumors After Bucks Trade
The Miami Heat may not be family affair for the Antetokounmpos with Giannis headed for South Florida.
ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported Friday on Mason & Ireland (29:55 mark) the Heat aren't planning to have any of Giannis' brothers join him in Miami.
"There won't be any more Antetokounmpo brothers in Miami," Shelburne said. "That whole 'We have Kostas and Thanasis on the team,' I don't think that's going to continue from what I understand."
Alex Antetokounmpo has reportedly lined up a deal with Greek team Promitheas Vikos Cola for 2026-27. Thanasis or Kostas Antetokounmpo could theoretically sign with Miami to help make Giannis more comfortable in his new surroundings.
It made sense for the Milwaukee Bucks to sign Thanasis and Alex because franchises from smaller markets have to go above and beyond to keep star players happy. This past season was special case, too, because Giannis' future was such a huge storyline.
That's not as much of a concern for the Heat, who have historically been a bigger draw.
Miami can't afford to waste money or roster spots, either. The team has a serious salary cap crunch after adding Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis. There's also a lot of work to be done toward filling out the supporting cast with Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kasparas Jakučionis going to Milwaukee.
There's no question the Heat will put forth a lot of effort to ensure Antetokounmpo is settled and performing at his best on the court. Team president Pat Riley isn't somebody who lets sentiment drive a lot of his decisions, though.
Thanasis and Kostas will have to look elsewhere for another NBA opportunity.
