Peterka, 24, made 82 appearances for the Mammoth last season, registering 25 goals and 22 assists while being plus-six.
Peterka spent his first four NHL seasons in Buffalo, setting career highs in goals (28) in the 2023-24 season and career highs in assists (41) and points (68) in the 2024-25 campaign.
He should immediately help to bolster a Boston attack that finished tied for 11th in goals scored (272) during the 2025-26 season.
The Bruins have had a relatively quiet offseason thus far, but adding Peterka qualifies as a nice splash.
"(It's) obviously an important time in the season for us," general manager Don Sweeney told reporters Wednesday. "And it's been busy, obviously, around the league and chatter. I don't think the transactions are going to stop between now and the timeframe in July. We're eager to be participating, haven't yet, I guess what we did with [Andre] Gasseau, but there's been a lot of chatter so I expect things to continue in terms of player movement and stuff heading into the draft to be busy."
Sweeney also hinted the Bruins would be busy looking for potential trade partners.
"You have to be in the trade market at this time of the year," he said. "I just don't think you can be singularly focused on unrestricted free agency and internal growth and expectation that somebody's just going to take the job. You've got to go out and actively find some guys that your pro guys have identified can help you."
On Friday, they found one guy in Peterka.
