New NBA Trade Rumors on Bogdan Bogdanovic as Clippers Mull Contract Decision
The Los Angeles Clippers and guard Bogdan Bogdanović took a step toward potentially finding him a new home on Friday.
According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Clippers and Bogdanović agreed to push his 2026-27 club option date back from June 26 to June 29, thus giving the Clips more time to engage in trade conversations.
If exercised, the club option would pay Bogdanović $16.020 million next season, per Spotrac.
The 33-year-old Bogdanović has spent parts of the past two seasons in L.A. after previous stints with the Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks.
After averaging 14.0 points per game or better in six straight seasons from 2018 to 2024, including a career-high 16.9 in 2023-24, Bogdanović production dropped off significantly with the Clippers.
In 30 games with the Clips in 2024-25 following a midseason trade, the Serbian guard averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers made per game.
Bogdanović dealt with multiple injuries last season, though, including a hamstring ailment, and it seemingly impacted both his effectiveness and his playing time.
Appearing in just 23 games, and starting three of them, Bogdanović averaged career lows across the board with 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 three-pointers made in 19.7 minutes per game.
Bogdanović also shot just 38.8 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc, which were also career worsts.
With club options on veterans in Bogdanović, Brook Lopez and Nicolas Batum, the Clippers have a chance to get significantly younger should they decline those options or trade all of those players.
Given that the Clippers missed the playoffs last season with a 42-40 record and haven't made it past the first round of the playoffs since 2021, that may be the best course of action.
L.A. already has much younger and more promising options at guard than Bogdanović on its roster in the form of Darius Garland, who was acquired in the James Harden trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Keaton Wagler, who it selected fifth overall in the 2026 NBA draft.
