Caleb Wilson Makes Bold Prediction for Bulls Rookie Season in Video After 2026 NBA Draft
After going No. 4 overall to the Chicago Bulls in the 2026 NBA draft, forward Caleb Wilson has high expectations for himself when it comes to his rookie season.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Wilson said, "I expect to have Rookie of the Year, honestly. I'm willing to work hard, I'm gonna do what it takes. I feel like the team is really good for me and how I envision to play. I know I'm a hard worker, so whatever I need to fix and work on throughout the season and before the season, I'm gonna work on it so I can be a great player."
The 19-year-old Wilson played one collegiate season at UNC, and he was highly productive when healthy, averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game, while shooting 57.8 percent from the field.
A fractured hand and broken thumb kept him out for most of February and March, and limited him to 24 games on the season, but Wilson was still a Second Team All-American.
In Chicago, Wilson joins a team with plenty of young talent, as Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, Noe Essengue and Rob Dillingham will all be 24 or younger when the 2026-27 season begins.
Wilson figures to have no shortage of opportunities to play big and important minutes, so Rookie of the Year is not necessarily an unrealistic goal.
However, he has a ton of high-end competition to deal with for that honor in the form of the Washington Wizards' AJ Dybantsa, the Sacramento Kings' Darryn Peterson and the Memphis Grizzlies' Cameron Boozer, who went Nos. 1, 2 and 3 overall in the draft, respectively.
