Stars' Jason Robertson Rejects Massive Kraken Contract in Latest NHL Trade Rumors
The Seattle Kraken reportedly made a hefty contract offer to Dallas Stars winger Jason Robertson after the team was given permission to talk to him.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Kraken offered Robertson an eight-year deal worth approximately $15 million per year before the offer was declined.

Per Friedman, it's believed that Dallas and Seattle had worked out "some kind of trade" before the permission was granted and the swap included Seattle's No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 draft.
Robertson will be a restricted free agent on July 1.
It's surprising that he reportedly turned down such a large offer, as Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov is the only NHL player that has a contract worth over $15 million per year (via Spotrac).
Kaprizov is earning $17 million per season as part of an eight-year extension he signed in Sept. 2025.
Still, Robertson may not have been willing to join a Kraken squad that has missed the playoffs in each of the past three seasons and could believe that he'll receive a larger offer in restricted free agency.
Friedman reported Thursday that Robertson and the Stars are "believed to be at least $2 million apart per season" in contract negotiations.
The 26-year-old is coming off an impressive 2025-26 campaign, finishing with 96 points in 82 regular-season appearances. Robertson was one of just four players to record at least 45 goals and 45 assists.
While Dallas was eliminated in the first round of the 2026 playoffs, Robertson still picked up five goals and three assists in six postseason contests.
