Mark Williams, Suns Reportedly Agree to $38M Contract Before NBA Free Agency, Updated Salary Cap
The Phoenix Suns have reportedly agreed to re-sign restricted free agent and center Mark Williams to a fully guaranteed three-year, $38 million contract, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
The 24-year-old Williams, who has played four NBA seasons (three with the Charlotte Hornets, one with the Suns following a trade), averaged 11.7 points on 64.4 percent shooting and 8.0 rebounds in 23.6 minutes per game over 60 contests (55 starts).
ESPN's Bobby Marks gave a look at the Suns' salary cap situation relative to the first and second aprons.
Keith Smith of Spotrac also provided some financial perspective.
Charania gave more information on the move.
The Suns previously re-signed Collin Gillespie to a four-year, $48 million contract and Collin Gillespie to a three-year, $19 million deal.
NBA reporter Evan Sidery is a fan of all three moves.
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix also provided his two cents.
The Suns entered a new era last season after trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and waiving Bradley Beal and hiring a new head coach (Jordan Ott). Phoenix improved from 36 wins in 2024-25 to 45-37 in 2025-26.
The Suns were the eighth seed in the playoffs and lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
Phoenix was clearly committed to bringing back key pieces from that team, and the Suns did just that as they look to build upon an impressive first season in a new era under Ott.
