Tyler Herro Reacts to Bucks Trade as Part of Giannis to Heat Package
Tyler Herro is heading home.
After being traded by the Miami Heat as part of the package for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Herro will get the chance to suit up for his hometown team, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Herro appears to be excited about the move, posting Milwaukee's area code on social media on Tuesday.
Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis were sent to Miami on Monday night in return for Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap and a second-rounder.
That ended Herro's seven-year run with Miami, which included a pair of NBA Finals runs in 2020 and 2023. Herro was also named Sixth Man of the Year and earned an All-Star nod while with the Heat.
But while it might be tough to leave the only team he's ever known, it will be special to get to play so close to home, assuming he sticks around in Milwaukee.
Herro grew up in Greenfield, Wisconsin, just outside of Milwaukee. He originally planned to play college basketball at Wisconsin before opting to join Kentucky. Now, he'll get to play in Wisconsin for the first time since high school.
While the Bucks aren't the championship contender they were when Antetokounmpo was on the roster, the sizable haul should keep them competitive. Herro's presence will be key in keeping Milwaukee relevant, and he'll look to put together a strong season for his hometown team.
