Heat Tried to Trade Davion Mitchell for Giannis and Why Bucks Rejected Explained in New NBA Rumors
The Miami Heat tried to include point guard Davion Mitchell in their deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo inside of 2025 first-round pick Kasparas Jakučionis, but the Milwaukee Bucks rejected that plan, per Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
"Per league sources, the Heat attempted to include point guard Davion Mitchell in the deal instead of Jakučionis. However, because Mitchell is entering the final year of his deal, as are Herro and Jaquez Jr., the Bucks made it clear that they had no interest in three of the four players in the deal having one season remaining. So the Bucks pushed for, and landed, Jakučionis. The 20-year-old, 6-foot-5 guard has three guaranteed seasons left on his rookie deal, including two team options."

ESPN's Shams Charania broke the blockbuster deal late Monday evening.
Mitchell, a five-year veteran who turns 28 on Sept. 5, averaged 9.3 points on 49.0 percent shooting (39.5 percent from three) and 6.5 assists in 70 starts last season.
The 20-year-old Jakučionis, who just finished his rookie year, averaged 6.2 points on 42.9 percent shooting (42.3 percent from three), 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
Given their contract situations (plus the 20-year-old Jakučionis' potential), it makes sense why Milwaukee held out for Jakučionis, especially given that they were parting ways with Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP and one of the league's top players.
