Contreras has been a bright spot in a Red Sox offense that has started to rebound ahead of the second half. He has batted .285 while drawing 35 walks and hitting 20 home runs, fueling his team-best 61 RBI.
Contreras' bat speed has also remained in the 96th percentile of MLB hitters, per Baseball Savant.
He's also stayed healthy, appearing in 88 of the Red Sox's 94 games so far this season despite an injury scare involving a ball that hit him in the hand in April.
The Red Sox originally acquired Contreras, who switched to first base the season prior, from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for a package of pitching prospects last December.
While the Red Sox struggled for most of the season's first half, they're 9-1 in July and are two games below .500 while sitting just a half-game out of the American League's final wild card spot.
