Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson Contract Talks Not Progressing, Pistons President Says Ahead of NBA FA
Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson figure to be a part of the Detroit Pistons' future, but the team isn't making strides in getting them signed to long-term deals.
Pistons president of basketball operations, Trajan Langdon, told reporters Thursday that contract talks with Duren and Thompson "haven't been" progressing yet.
"Those will be conversations that will be had. But to be completely honest, you will never know how those conversations go," Langdon said.

Pistons Want Jalen Duren Back

Bron-to-Dubs Reportedly Unlikely ⛔️

Pistons' Biggest Offseason Needs 📝
Duren had a career year in 2025-26, putting up 19.5 points and 10.5 boards per game to make All-NBA Third Team. Thompson averaged 9.9 points, 5.7 boards and a pair of steals per game on his way to being named All-Defensive First Team.
By making an All-NBA team, Duren became eligible for a five-year max deal worth up to 30 percent of Detroit's cap. His play during the regular season would've warranted that kind of deal, but his struggles in the postseason (10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game) left some questions.
Thompson's defense is second-to-none, but his offense leaves a bit to be desired before the Pistons give him a big extension.
Duren is set to be a restricted free agent, while Thompson is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
