Inch by inch and brick by brick, the hype for the release of NBA 2K16 is being built.

The latest piece of the foundation dropped Monday with the release of the "Beyond the Shadows" trailer above.

It features NBA MVP and star of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry.

The trailer chronicles Curry's rise from a lightly recruited high school player in North Carolina to a superstar at Davidson University to his epic impact with the Warriors.

There are a few quick images of Curry from NBA 2K16, and film director Spike Lee narrated the presentation. Lee is also the director of the game's MyCareer cinematic component.

The concept this year is "Be the Story." To further push the theme, the spot gives us a glimpse into Curry's story.

Fans have been pining for an extended look at this year's game, but the preview won't satiate those desires too much. As a matter of fact, you can see a little more of the game in this Instagram video that shows Curry at the free-throw line with his signature mouthpiece sticking out:

The BTS trailer shows some in-game footage, but it's brief. Curry's signature crossover and hesitation dribble sends Chris Paul airborne, and Steph's tributes to God are also included as he taps his chest and points to the sky in another animation.

There's also a shot of him drilling a three in a quick reenactment of the 2015 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite only seeing a snippet of action, Twitter users such as BigJoes414 seemed impressed:

The game is set for release September 29, but fans who pre-order it can get it September 25, per Vikki Blake of IGN.com. Stay tuned for more news on the game as the release date approaches.
