New Knicks Rumors on Potential NBA Draft Trades After Winning 2026 Title
Fresh off winning their first championship since 1973, the New York Knicks are reportedly expected to be active on the trade front during the 2026 NBA draft.
According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, sources believe the Knicks are planning to trade away either the No. 24 overall pick in the first round or the No. 31 overall pick at the top of the second round.

Fischer noted that there was a bidding war of sorts for the No. 31 overall pick last year between Night 1 and Night 2 of the 2025 NBA draft, which resulted in the Minnesota Timberwolves trading the selection to the Phoenix Suns for multiple future second-rounders.
A similar trade could be of interest to the Knicks since it would give them additional ammo for trades moving forward.
New York doesn't necessarily have any pressing needs after losing just three games in its entire playoff run, along with the fact that the core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart is set to return next season.
However, Fischer noted that Spanish guard Sergio de Larrea is a name to watch for the Knicks when they pick at No. 24 or No. 31.
Fischer reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are set to pick 28th overall, also have interest in Larrea.
Because of that, the Knicks may have to stick and pick at No. 24 if they truly want Larrea, which would then allow them to put the No. 31 overall selection up for grabs.
Regardless of what the Knicks decide to do, there will likely be a celebratory atmosphere at the draft, which will emanate from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
