Serena ended her four-year retirement last week at the HSBC Championships when she was paired with Victoria Mboko in doubles action.

After upsetting the No. 3 seed duo of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe in the first round, Williams' brief run ended before the second round when Mboko had to withdraw from the tournament with a knee injury.

Before the HSBC Championships, Serena left open the possibility of playing singles action again.

"I can't say no right now," she told reporters on June 7. "I feel like I probably need to train a little bit more if I want to play singles, and we will see if I get there, and if not ... that's not my journey right now."

Tumaini Carayol of The Guardian noted on Tuesday that Serena didn't request a singles wildcard for Wimbledon.

Venus will be competing in her second Grand Slam event of the year. She previously played at the Australian Open in singles and doubles competition, when she was paired with Ekaterina Alexandrova.

A five-time Wimbledon singles champion, Venus hasn't played at the event in either singles or doubles since 2023.

This will be the first time Serena and Venus have played together at a Grand Slam tournament since the 2022 U.S. Open. Their last doubles win in a major was at the 2018 French Open when they advanced to the third round.

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships begin on June 29.
