Spurs Restrict NBA Finals G5 Ticket Sales to 150-Mile Radius, Retain Right to Cancel Transactions

Scott PolacekJun 13, 2026

New York Knicks fans taking over road venues has been a major storyline throughout the playoffs, but the San Antonio Spurs are doing what they can to prevent a complete takeover of Frost Bank Center for Saturday's Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

According to a disclaimer on Ticketmaster's website, "Frost Bank Center is located in San Antonio, Texas. Sales to this event will be restricted to customers residing within a 150-mile radius of Frost Bank Center. Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside of a 150-mile radius of Frost Bank Center will be canceled without notice and refunds given. Please note there is a 4 seat ticket limit for transactions through the venue."

New York Governor Kathy Hochul called for a reversal of the policy after "thousands of New Yorkers bought tickets, booked flights, and made plans in good faith."

Christopher Hoffman of News 4 San Antonio relayed a statement from the Spurs explaining the restrictions are in place through Ticketmaster but not other marketplaces.

"Tickets may be transferred or resold multiple times after their initial purchase through a variety of channels," the Spurs said. "That's why the location of the original purchaser based on billing address does not always necessarily reflect who ultimately attends the game."

Even with these restrictions in place, it is reasonable to expect there to be a large presence of Knicks fans at Saturday's game, with MSG Sports confirming that the Spurs will not be revoking tickets purchased for tonight's game:

New York is up 3-1 in the series and one win away from its first championship since 1973. Generations of fans who have long been waiting for the team to win a title will surely want to see it in person and respond accordingly, even if the game is in San Antonio.

Similar situations have unfolded across the sports world in the past with teams with massive fanbases celebrating the end of title droughts on the road. Boston Red Sox fans made their presence known in St. Louis when they clinched the 2004 World Series title over the Cardinals, while Chicago Cubs fans took over Cleveland for Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.

Now that it may be the Knicks' turn to snap a lengthy championship drought, their fans are ready to take over another road venue.

Still, it wouldn't be shocking if San Antonio figured out a way to get back into the series.

The Spurs have held the lead in the final two minutes of each of the four games in the Finals to this point. Finishing the games has been the primary issue, as mistakes such as a late Victor Wembanyama turnover at the end of Game 2 and a failure to box out OG Anunoby at the end of Game 4 have loomed large.

If the Spurs can play better with the game on the line, perhaps they can win three straight and become the second team in NBA history to overcome a 3-1 Finals deficit.

If they don't, the Knicks fans will be there and ready to celebrate.
