New LeBron James Rumors Reveal Lakers Star's 'Preferred' Landing Spot, Warriors Level of Interest
All eyes will be on LeBron James this offseason, and there are reportedly multiple California teams in play as he decides on his playing future.
NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported Tuesday that remaining with the Los Angeles Lakers "is widely believed to be his preferred choice because he is so entrenched" following eight seasons with the team.
However, they also reported the Golden State Warriors are "legitimately interested" in adding the future Hall of Famer to a veteran core that already includes Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler "with the pitch presumed to include the idea that LeBron could commute from Los Angeles to some TBD degree without having to move his family."

That James would want to remain with the Lakers comes as no surprise.
After all, his son, Bronny, is on the roster, and he has been in the area since joining the team ahead of the 2018-19 campaign. Joining a team such as the Cleveland Cavaliers would mean some type of move in what will be his age-42 season and could prevent him from playing alongside his son.
Los Angeles also has Luka Dončić on the roster and could be a contender in the Western Conference if it brings back James and Austin Reaves this offseason.
But the Warriors are an intriguing possibility, especially since it would mean teaming with a fellow legend in Curry who has helped define a generation of basketball for so many fans.
James and Curry battled in four straight NBA Finals when the former was in Cleveland from 2015-18 but have only been teammates in the Olympics and All-Star Games. Joining Golden State would change that and also be something of a full-circle moment for the King after he said in 2022 that Curry was the player in the NBA at the time he most wanted to play with as teammates.
"Steph Curry is the one that I want to play with for sure in today's game," he said on The Shop (1:10 mark). "... I love everything about that guy. Lethal. Steph, when he get out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena. Soon as he get out of his car, you better guard his ass."
Curry's gravitational pull as arguably the best shooter in NBA history would open up plenty of driving lanes for James, although durability and age would clearly be a concern on a team with those two, Green and Butler.
James will turn 42 next season, Curry will turn 39, Green will turn 37 and Butler will be 37.
Asking all of them to play a full season and then the grind of a potentially long playoff run may be too daunting of a task, but there would be no shortage of entertainment for fans as long as they were on the court together.
