Kyrie Irving missed all of the 2025-26 campaign, but the Dallas Mavericks star appears ready to come back strong next year.
Irving held the "Can You Guard Kyrie" challenge at the NBPA Top 100 camp on Tuesday, and he seemed to be plenty healthy after spending the last year recovering from a torn ACL.
Irving tore his left ACL last March and initially eyed a mid-season return, but ultimately sat out the entire season as the Mavs were nowhere near playoff contention.
Irving updated his progress last month, saying that he is "close to being over at 100 percent."
"I am definitely close to being over at 100 percent in terms of my ACL recovery," he said on a Twitch livestream. "It's been a while now… I'm so grateful that I've had the time to heal and just experiment with my body more on the court and off the court in the weight room and just pushing myself to the limit."
Mavs general manager Mike Schmitz also praised Irving for his commitment to coming back strong.
"I can say he's been doing everything human possible to maximize his talent... just to see his approach, and how he's attacking things every day, has been incredibly impressive," Schmitz told reporters in May.
Irving was playing well before the injury, averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists during the 2024-25 campaign.
Things will look much different when Irving returns since Anthony Davis was traded to the Washington Wizards, and the franchise is now centered around young star Cooper Flagg, but a player like Irving should be able to mesh well with the new group.
