Every NFL Team's Current Super Bowl Window

Brad GagnonJun 10, 2026

Windows are constantly opening and closing in the NFL.

Some are harder to gauge than others. Some are wide open. Others? Slammed shut.

With the buzz building for the 2026 NFL campaign, let's check in on Super Bowl windows throughout professional football.

AFC East

1 of 8
Bills Football
Josh Allen

Buffalo Bills: 4-6 years

Josh Allen is on a Hall of Fame track and in the middle of his prime at age 30. So long as he's on the roster, healthy and on this side of 35, a Bills team that has won double-digit games every year since 2019 will be in the picture.

Miami Dolphins: Closed

Malik Willis could change this status soon with enough support, but there are too many unknowns with this franchise following significant roster and regime turnover this offseason. The Dolphins have the worst Super Bowl odds in the AFC for a reason.

New England Patriots: A decade or more

MVP runner-up Drake Maye is still only 23, and this is a young roster that just went all the way. The veterans on board are replaceable with good drafting and smart decisions in free agency. Assuming Maye's sophomore success wasn't a fluke, they'll be in contention well into the 2030s.

New York Jets: Closed

There is plenty of young talent on both sides of the ball, but let's not pretend 35-year-old Geno Smith can suddenly turn things around completely for a team that went 3-14 last year and has lost double-digit games every season since 2020.

AFC North

Bengals Football
Joe Burrow

Baltimore Ravens: 1-5 years

Lamar Jackson is slightly younger than Allen, but a little more vulnerable due to his style of play. His contract situation is also becoming somewhat tenuous, as he's due to count more than $83 million against the salary cap in a 2027 walk year. Hence the potentially short window.

Cincinnati Bengals: 1-6 years

Not sure this Bengals core can survive a fourth consecutive non-playoff season without major changes that cloud the future. But if Joe Burrow and Co. put it back together in 2026, we could have the recipe for runs well into the 2030s.

Cleveland Browns: Closed

Until one of those quarterbacks proves he can be the guy, and until they can provide said guy with support on both sides of the ball, this is a locked window for a team that just traded away the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Pittsburgh Steelers: 1 year tops

I really don't view the Steelers as a legit contender right now, as they haven't won a playoff game in a decade and not much has changed. This prescribed window really just represents what Aaron Rodgers may or may not have left.

AFC South

Jaguars Lawrence Football
Trevor Lawrence

Houston Texans: 1-8 years

The Texans also lack legit contender status considering C.J. Stroud's last couple of seasons. The short end here represents the fact they were in the hunt last season and should remain there even if Stroud truly becomes a bust in 2026, while the long end represents Stroud rediscovering the magic from his rookie season in the years to come.

Indianapolis Colts: Closed

So-so talent on both sides of the ball and still lacking a franchise quarterback. It doesn't move the needle.

Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-8 years

Trevor Lawrence is a 26-year-old former top pick coming off a breakout run for a team with an exciting new coach and enough talent to become something special. That said, Lawrence could continue to lack consistency and this team could fall off a cliff by 2027.

Tennessee Titans: Closed...for now

Having gone 6-28 the last two seasons combined, the Titans have a long way to go. But they're rebuilding with a potential franchise quarterback so it's at least closer to opening than it was in the last few years.

Bills Broncos Football
Bo Nix

Denver Broncos: 4-8 years

It's safe to say Bo Nix is the guy for the next few years, and he's surrounded by talent that is appropriately aged for a long-term run as a contender. He'll be cheap for the next few years anyway, so only a surprise decline would shorten this window now.

Kansas City Chiefs: 1-3 years

It's begun to feel as though the party is over, but you just never know with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is still only 30, but the roster in general has been deteriorating for quite a while.

Las Vegas Raiders: Closed...for now

They're absolutely on the right track, but the target is realistically 2027 or 2028 with Fernando Mendoza and this young core.

Los Angeles Chargers: 2-6 years

If Justin Herbert doesn't take a big step forward in the next couple of seasons, the Chargers could potentially determine they've hit a wall and make big changes. But for now, the talent and coaching are there and the potential window is lengthy.

NFC East

Chargers Cowboys Football
Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys: 1-4 years

The core talent is strong enough for this to span into Dak Prescott's late 30s, but the nature of the up-and-down Cowboys right now means this could also blow up within a year. It's arguably a make-or-break season in Dallas.

New York Giants: Closed...for now

But boy is this thing ever ready to swing open! Yes, it's one of those swinging windows. Arguably a door but use your imagination. Regardless, the ingredients are there in nearly every key spot. I fully expect this to be a wide-open window in 2027.

Philadelphia Eagles: 4-8 years

The front office is primo, the roster is deep and talented and most key players are in their prime and wrapped up for years to come. It's hard to see them fading from contention in the next half-decade.

Washington Commanders: 1-8 years

This all depends on the direction of Jayden Daniels in a critical third season. If he can rebound after a tough, injury-marred sophomore season, the Commanders could have a chance to build a New England-like championship window. If he struggles to make an impact again, this could all go bust.

NFC North

6 of 8
Bears Football
Caleb Williams

Chicago Bears: 2-10 years

This adjustment compared to Washington above is a reflection on my confidence in Ben Johnson as well as the support for Caleb Williams, who hasn't peaked as high as Daniels but is on a steady track.

Detroit Lions: 1-4 years

Jared Goff turns 32 this year, and the Lions have had no playoff success the last two seasons. Another failure could mark the end of the run, while a successful rebound could keep the window open into Goff's mid-30s.

Green Bay Packers: 2-6 years

The 27-year-old Jordan Love is in his prime and under contract for the next few years, and the Packers are already a perennial playoff team. They're far from a crossroads, but things get tricky if they can't deliver the next two years and Love is slated to count $74.2 million against the cap in 2028.

Minnesota Vikings: Closed

The talent is there at the skill positions, along the offensive line and on defense, but we need to see something from either Kyler Murray or J.J. McCarthy first.

NFC South

7 of 8
Buccaneers Football
Baker Mayfield

Atlanta Falcons: Closed...for now

The talent is there at the skill positions, along the offensive line and on defense to an extent, but we need to see something from either Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa first.

Carolina Panthers: Closed...for now

The rebuild continues for a team that is getting closer but still doesn't know for sure that Bryce Young is the answer.

New Orleans Saints: Closed...for now

The rebuild continues for a team that is getting closer but still doesn't know for sure that Tyler Shough is the answer.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 1-3 years

As of right now, Baker Mayfield is entering a contract year. The 31-year-old may have peaked already, and this roster is aging out more than it's growing. We can sense a rebuild in a year or two.

NFC West

8 of 8
Rams Football
Matthew Stafford

Arizona Cardinals: Closed

A 14-loss team from last year still doesn't have a real answer at quarterback and is stuck in a stacked division that contains the reigning Super Bowl champion and current Super Bowl favorite.

Los Angeles Rams: 1-2 years

Aggressive recent moves suggest they know it's all about 2026, maybe 2027. Beyond that, 38-year-old Matthew Stafford is likely no longer the dude.

San Francisco 49ers: 1-8 years

With Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa and a strong line in place, this deep and well-coached team should be in contention if healthy. But issues with injuries combined with some concerns about age for McCaffrey, Trent Williams and George Kittle keep this broad.

Seattle Seahawks: 2-6 years

We'll see if Sam Darnold keeps this rolling into his 30s beyond 2026, or if that Super Bowl run was a one-off. It really could go either way, but there's enough in place for this window to be open more than just a crack.
