Mike Brown Calls Out Knicks' Offense Around KAT on Video After Loss to Spurs in NBA Finals Game 3
New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown wants to see his team be more active on the offensive end going forward in the NBA Finals after their 13-game playoff winning streak was snapped with a 115-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
Speaking to reporters after the game (starts at 6:30 mark), Brown felt like the Knicks didn't do a good job of getting everyone involved, particularly Karl-Anthony Towns, because they "just wanted to stand and watch one guy dribble a ton" when they had the ball.
"We were just playing a lot of drag into what we call summertime, which is just kind of ball movement and body movement. We just wanted to stand and watch one guy dribble a ton. And then when the ball got passed, there were no quick decisions by the guy receiving the basketball. So we have actions we can get into that we didn't do a good job of getting into, first of all, but it's okay because you're not going to be able to run plays all the time, especially with how physical they are playing defensively.

"But you've got to be smart. You have to take care of the basketball. You have to space right. You have to move the ball. You have to move bodies. We've done that quite a bit, and we didn't do a good job of it tonight."
Everything the Knicks do on offense runs through Jalen Brunson, but Towns' efficiency through the first two games against the Spurs is what made them so effective.
Towns scored a combined 39 points on 15-of-27 shooting with eight assists in the first two games against the Spurs. Monday night saw him put up 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting with one assist.
The four made field goals by Towns were tied for his fewest in a game since the start of the Eastern Conference Finals. He also hasn't scored in the fourth quarter in any of the three games against the Spurs.
New York was able to win the first two games in San Antonio despite Towns not being a big factor in clutch time, but things finally caught up to the Eastern Conference champs on Monday night.
The Knicks will use Tuesday's off day to regroup as they look to get back on track for Game 4 against the Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
