Hawks HC Quin Snyder's New Contract Revealed in Latest NBA Rumors Ahead of 2026 Draft, Free Agency
Ahead of the 2026 offseason, the Atlanta Hawks reportedly rewarded head coach Quin Snyder with a new deal.
Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the Hawks and Snyder agreed to a multiyear contract extension. The move comes after Atlanta promoted general manager Onsi Saleh to president of basketball operations and signed him to a long-term contract extension as well. Charania added that the deals for Snyder and Saleh help "solidify organizational continuity for team ownership."
Snyder guided the Hawks to a 46-36 record this season before they lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs in six games. Atlanta has been the only team to hand New York a loss this postseason so far.
The Hawks appeared to be headed for disaster when they made the drastic decision to trade star point guard Trae Young to the Washington Wizards. However, Snyder was able to bring the best out of the new iteration of his team. Charaniaย pointed outย that Atlanta went 20-6 down the stretch of the regular season, and Snyder became the first coach to have back-to-back Most Improved Players in Dyson Daniels last year and Nickeil Alexander-Walker this season.
The Hawks named Snyder their head coach with 21 games left in the 2022-23 season. Atlanta finished below .500 in each of its first two seasons with him at the helm before finding success this year.
The Hawks will have the No. 8 and No. 23 picks in this month's NBA draft following trades with the New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers, respectively. It will be up to Snyder and Saleh to make the best decisions for the franchise as Atlanta tries to remain in playoff contention next season.
