Top NBA Trade Rumors Amid 2026 NBA Finals Bracket Before the Draft, Free Agency

Erik BeastonJun 4, 2026

Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the most buzz-worthy trade target in the NBA, with several teams imagining the playoff and NBA title potential of adding the former league MVP to their squads.

The big man headlines this collection of insider rumors, which also includes a potential surprise suitor, as well as the potential for the Oklahoma City Thunder to find their way into the top 10 in this year's NBA Draft.

Miami Emerges As Favorite to Land Giannis

Antetokounmpo remains the buzziest topic of the offseason trade market. Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic revealed that the Miami Heat are currently the frontrunners to land the former league MVP and NBA champion.

They wrote, "The noise surrounding the Miami Heat and Antetokounmpo remains louder than all the rest. Many people around the league, from agents to executives, continue to believe that Antetokounmpo will end up in Miami when this saga finally comes to an end."

They added, "The rumors of Giannis' openness to Miami have persisted for years, and league sources indicate that he remains both intrigued and impressed with the organization's winning culture."

The only hesitation remains the bounty that the Heat would have to give up to acquire the 31-year-old forward and whether it would be too much for it to contend in a loaded Eastern Conference.

The report noted, "While the Heat could offer Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez and all three first-round picks at their disposal (two future firsts and No. 13 in the 2026 NBA Draft), that sort of deal would leave Antetokounmpo with the prospect of competing with Bam Adebayo, Norm Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Davion Mitchell and … not much else."

Adebayo is a star, but for the most part, the Heat would look eerily like the Milwaukee Bucks teams that Giannis has been trying to carry to another NBA title for the last five seasons, which begs the question: Would it be a net positive for anyone involved?

Other than the prospects of seeing what the great Erik Spoelstra can do with Antetokounmpo, and whether he could coach him and the otherwise bare bones Heat to a title, the answer is a resounding "probably not."

Amick and Nehm also reported that the former NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, could be intrigued at the possibility of adding Antetokounmpo after their elimination from this year's playoffs.

"While the Thunder have not been expected to pursue Antetokounmpo, the specifics of their failed title defense against San Antonio in the Western Conference finals were enough to make rival teams wonder whether that stance might change."

The Thunder have 12 first-round picks between now and 2033, meaning they have plenty of firepower to get a deal done if the Bucks are so obliged.

With Chet Holmgren struggling mightily in the Western Conference Finals against San Antonio, perhaps OKC would want to explore the possibility of bringing in a big man who can neutralize Victor Wembanyama and help the Thunder get past the Spurs in what is shaping up to be one of the best rivalries of the next decade.

Whereas another team, like the Heat, would have to empty the cupboards to acquire the Greek-born All-Star, the Thunder have enough draft capital to make the deal without having to pluck from their roster in any way that would be adverse to their ability to compete for an NBA title again next year.

It is an intriguing potential move and one that should bear watching in the coming weeks and months.

Thunder Potentially Active in NBA Draft Top 10

Anthony Slater and Tim McMahon reported that the Thunder may make its presence felt in the top 10 of this year's NBA Draft, reporting, "League sources said they've had exploratory discussions with teams in the top 10 about what it could take to move up, the type of trade that is typically dependent on a specific target still being available when a pick goes on the clock."

Oklahoma City possesses the 12th, 17th, and 37th picks in this year's Draft, giving them plenty of capital to make a move if they desire. The prospect of the Thunder acquiring a top draft pick should be terrifying for the Western Conference, which has routinely watched general manager Sam Presti restock and retool the roster over his nearly two decades with the organization.

Strong forward AJ Dybantsa from BYU, guard Darryn Peterson from Kansas, and Duke's Cam Boozer are the top three prospects available in this year's draft, according to Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman in his most recent mock draft. Any of the three would conceivably be targets for the Thunder if they do target a major move up in the selection process.

Boozer's offensive skill set, discipline, and playmaking ability would make him a very intriguing potential add for a team that is already a contender for the top prize in the game next year.
