Jalen Brunson, Knicks Beat Wemby, Spurs, Box Score Stats & Highlights from NBA Finals Game 1
The New York Knicks are three wins away from their first championship since 1973.
New York stunned the San Antonio Spurs with a 105-95 victory in Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals at Frost Bank Center to steal home-court advantage in the series. Jalen Brunson struggled with efficiency throughout the contest but delivered in the biggest moments like he so often does with a three-pointer and pull-up jumper in the final two minutes that swung the game.

Brunson Limped to Locker Room

Wemby on Coach Pop's Impact ๐ซก
Brunson finished with 30 points on 12-of-31 shooting from the field, while Karl-Anthony Towns notched a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Victor Wembanyama also finished with a double-double on the other side with 26 points and 12 rebounds, but he also turned the ball over six times and was just 6-of-21 from the field and 2-of-9 from deep in an uncharacteristically poor offensive performance.
It seemed like it would be a battle of the stars when Brunson and Wembanyama hit the first two shots of the game, but that wasn't the case in the early going.
Instead, Dylan Harper provided an immediate spark off the bench for the Spurs with 10 points in the first quarter as he aggressively attacked the basket, hit from the outside and helped the home team build a double-digit lead.
What's more, Julian Champagnie drilled five three-pointers before intermission and was the game's leading scorer in the first half with 15 points. And all of that happened while Wembanyama and Brunson each struggled with their shot thanks in part to suffocating defense on both sides.
But that was far from the only initial concern on New York's side, as Brunson temporarily exited and limped to the locker room after suffering an apparent knee injury:
Fortunately for the Knicks, Brunson seemed fine in the second half as the visitors refused to go away. Whether it was Towns battling for offensive rebounds and going right at Wembanyama in the paint, Landry Shamet and Miles McBride hitting threes, or Brunson remaining persistent, New York had an answer for every San Antonio spurt.
It also didn't help San Antonio's case that Wembanyama continued to struggle with his shot outside of free throws, which contributed to a stagnant offense as the Knicks seized momentum and the lead in the final quarter with OG Anunoby draining shots from the outside.
Brunson then built on that lead by remaining in attack mode and finally starting to find his touch in the lane, although Wembanyama fittingly had an answer as he too worked through his shooting struggles with a three and an and-1 to give the Spurs the lead heading into crunch time.
But crunch time belonged to Brunson as he delivered the Knicks their 12th straight postseason win after they fell behind 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round.
If they can extend that winning streak to 13 during Friday's Game 2 in San Antonio, they will be in full control of the NBA Finals.
