New NFL Rumors on Bijan Robinson Contract Extension with Falcons After Drake London Deal
The Atlanta Falcons signed star wideout Drake London to a four-year, $141 million extension on Tuesday.
And running back Bijan Robinson is very much expected to get an extension of his own this summer, per multiple reports:
Robinson's inevitable extension will likely reset the running back market.
The 24-year-old has rushed for at least 1,400 yards the past two seasons, accounting for 21 touchdowns on the ground in that time. And he was a menace in the passing game during the 2025 season, catching 79 passes for 820 yards and another four scores.
He's now accounted for at least 1,400 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns in each of his three seasons, and is a two-time Pro Bowler and a 2025 first-team All-Pro selection.
At this point, Robinson is the focal point of Atlanta's offense, firmly in his prime years and the sort of dual-threat running back that generally gets paid at the top of the running back market.
Given that Robinson is under contract through the 2027 season, given his fifth-year option—and given that Atlanta could use the franchise tag on him after that—the Falcons have some leverage in talks. But securing him to long-term deal would also make sense, both keeping him happy and ensuring he never hits the open market.
Plus, waiting too long might allow Jahmyr Gibbs to reset the market first when he inevitably signs an extension with the Lions, making Robinson's price tag even higher.
The top average annual salaries at the position belong to Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million) and Christian McCaffrey ($19 million) before a drop-off after that (De'Von Achane, $16 million). Expect both Robinson and Gibbs to command something in the Barkley-McCaffrey region, if not beyond.
