New NHL Rumors Reveal Rasmus Andersson Contract After Golden Knights' 2026 Stanley Cup Final Run
The Vegas Golden Knights are locking in another piece of their defensive core after going to the Stanley Cup Final.
Rasmus Andersson and the Knights have agreed to a seven-year contract with an average annual value of $8.5 million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Andersson hit unrestricted free agency following the end of the six-year, $4.55 million AAV contract he originally signed ahead of his 2020-21 season with the Calgary Flames.

The Flames then dealt Andersson and his expiring contract to the Golden Knights in January in exchange for a package including a 2027 first-round pick.
That deal quickly paid off for the Knights. Andersson slotted in on the Knights' second pairing alongside Noah Hanifin while also seeing time both on the power play and penalty kill.
He ranked second for the team lead in average ice time only to Shea Theodore following the trade.
Andersson finished the season having ranked sixth on the team and led all Knights defensemen over the last 33 games of the season with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists).
Only six NHL defensemen finished the regular season with more goals than Andersson, who racked up 17 through 81 games with the Flames and Knights.
That was in part thanks to Andersson's shot, which ranked in the 97th percentile of the NHL with a fastest speed of more than 100 miles per hour, per NHL Edge.
Andersson later contributed six assists in 22 playoff games while helping lead the Golden Knights to the Final.
Re-signing Andersson means the Golden Knights now have their top four defenseman through at least the next two seasons in Theodore, Andersson, Hanifin and Brayden McNabb.
The Knights will hope keeping this defensive core in place will help the team earn redemption from their Cup Final loss in 2027.
Andersson, who will turn 30 in October, was originally drafted by the Flames in 2015. He spent the first nine and a half seasons of his career in Calgary before his midseason trade to the Knights.
He heads into his 11th NHL season having recorded 278 points (64 goals, 214 assists) over 617 regular-season games.
