On Tuesday, the top-ranked Italian began his quest for his first career Grand Slam with a clinical straight-set win over French wild card Clement Tabur.

The win marked Sinner's 30th straight, the fifth-longest by any player in the ATP Tour era (since 1990).

The men's draw was not devoid of upsets, however, as No. 6 Daniil Medvedev and No. 9 Alexander Bublik were both eliminated.

No. 4 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime looked in danger of joining the pair before eventually persevering in a five-set thriller that required a tie-breaker in the decisive set.

In the women's draw, the top two seeds in action—Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff—both advanced in straight sets, while No. 5 Jessica Pegula lost in three sets against Kimberly Birrell.

Jannik Sinner began his 2026 French Open campaign with a dominant straight-set win over French wild card Clement Tabur.

The four-time Grand Slam champion played his signature aggressive-yet-consistent baseline tennis while remaining nearly unstoppable on serve.

Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev fell in a five-set thriller to Adam Walton, marking his second straight first round exit at Roland-Garros.

The No. 6 seed's aggressive strategy did not pay off. Despite hitting 54 winners, he committed 60 unforced errors and struggled to find his groove at the net.

Another upset shook up the men's draw as 2025 French Open quarterfinalist Alexander Bublik was defeated by Jan-Lennard Struff in 4 sets.

The No. 9 seed impressed with his blistering serve and power; however, Struff was able to find lots of success at the net as the match progressed, which proved to be the difference.

It looked like the draw would be shaken up once more with Felix Auger-Aliassime trailing in the fifth set.

However, the No. 4 seed was able to persevere in a thrilling tie-breaker.

The first day of the second round begins tomorrow on TNT, which will broadcast live from Roland-Garros starting at 5 a.m. ET. There will also be whip-around coverage on truTV at the same time, while all courts will stream live on HBO Max.

Firepower and talent will collide when Joao Fonseca and Dino Prizmic meet on Wednesday.

Prizmic, who is playing in the second round of a Grand Slam for the first time ever, has been in impeccable form on the clay swing.

The 20-year-old Croatian has already earned wins over the likes of players such as Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton, and Matteo Berrettini.

However, nothing will come easy against Fonseca, who, with his blistering serve, booming forehand, and top-notch athleticism, thrives on the clay surface.

This has the makings of a five-set thriller, and the winner might just be determined by who can endure more physicality.

Coco Gauff dropped just four games against Taylor Townsend en route to the second round.

However, the victory was still hard-earned—especially the first set.

Gauff lost her first service game of the match and continued to struggle from the baseline.

However, the top-ranked American found her rhythm late in the opening set before dominating 6-0 in the second set.

In other action, 2025 French Open runner-up Aryna Sabalenka defeated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets.

Bouzas Maneiro tested the No. 1 seed at times, but she persevered with her signature aggressive baseline play.

It looked like No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula would handle business after taking a one-set lead against Kimberly Birrell in just under twenty-five minutes.

However, the Australian seized control late with her relentless aggression, pulling off the most improbable upset yet in the women's draw.
