Arthur Gea Pleads for Bathroom Break to Umpire on Video During Debut Match at Roland-Garros
It's safe to say Arthur Gea's Roland-Garros debut did not go as planned Sunday.
As the Associated Press detailed, Gea pleaded with the chair umpire for a break during the first set against Karen Khachanov because he needed to use the restroom.
"I need to go to the bathroom. I can't move anymore. I'm going to (go) on the court," he said.

Khachanov protested since bathroom breaks are only permitted between sets and this happened when it was 4-2, but Gea said the umpire allowed it due to "medical circumstances." He also explained he was given some medicine to help his stomach.
Such rules about when breaks are allowed contributed to Flavio Cobolli's loss to Arthur Fery at the 2026 Australian Open in January. Cobolli said he was dealing with a stomach issue that became worse during the match because he was only able to take a bathroom break in between sets.
While Khachanov protested the break on Sunday, he still ended up with the 6-3, 7-6 (3), 6-0 victory.
