The 2025 Topps Chrome Superfractor LeBron James 1/1 autograph card was sold for $1.26 million.
Gretzky's card, which sold for $540,000, was a 1979 O-Pee-Chee rookie card with his autograph that received a Mint PSA 9 grade for the card, while the signature was given a 10-grade.
Fanatics noted Gretzky's card is the most expensive autographed hockey card ever sold. It's the second-most expensive hockey and Gretzky card of all-time.
The only hockey card that sold for a higher price was a different version of the same Gretzky 1979 O-Pee-Chee rookie card, but it had a Gem Mint 10 grade from Professional Sports Authenticator and went for $3.75 million in 2021.
More recently, there was a sealed case of the O-Pee-Chee Hockey wax boxes from the 1979-80 season with the Gretzky card in it that sold for $2.52 million in December 2024.
James has now had at least 26 cards sell for at least $1 million after this most recent auction. The most expensive of his cards that has ever been sold was the 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Basketball rookie card that went for $5.2 million in 2021.
