NFL Free Agents We Can't Believe Haven't Signed a Contract with New Team Yet
Many of the major milestones of the 2026 NFL offseason have come and gone, but there are still plenty of talented veterans lingering in free agency just waiting to be signed.
While it may not benefit the players, teams in need of impact talent at a cheap cost have a plethora of options at their disposal. These aging players generally aren't in the prime of their careers and may have had issues with injury and/or consistency in recent seasons, but they are still proven assets who should have some tread left on their tires.
With that in mind, let's take a look at five free agents we can't believe haven't signed a contract with a new team yet, highlighting some potential landing spots for each.

OG Kevin Zeitler

B/R Scouting Department Rank: No. 71
Considering the number of NFL teams that still have glaring holes along the offensive line, it's downright shocking that Kevin Zeitler hasn't found a home.
Zeitler is firmly in the mercenary stage of his lengthy career, having suited up for three different teams over the past three seasons, but remains highly serviceable at the age of 36. The Tennessee Titans got plenty of mileage out of the veteran in 2025, with Zeitler earning a solid 74.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus—ranking No. 13 out of the 81 guards who qualified last year.
Zeitler particularly excelled in pass protection during his time in the Music City. He rated inside the top 10 at his position with a 75.4 PFF pass-blocking grade, allowing just 16 total pressures across 590 pass block snaps. Although he's not as well-regarded as a run-blocker, PFF still scored him as a top-20 performer in that department.
Zeitler isn't the most athletic player but he wins in the trenches with immense power and physicality. His ability to take on hulking defensive tackles is a major asset, helping keep a clean pocket and shutting down the interior rush.
Any club seeking to bolster the guard position should have Zeitler atop their list of candidates. Whether a team is looking to protect a young developmental quarterback or add another proven piece to a Super Bowl-caliber lineup, this veteran fits the bill.
Potential Landing Spots: Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, San Francisco 49ers
WR Deebo Samuel

B/R Scouting Department Rank: No. 51
The Washington Commanders moved on from Deebo Samuel after a single season, but the 30-year-old wideout should still have something left to offer another team as he gears up for his third NFL act.
Samuel can be a dangerous playmaker when he possesses the football. He's amassed 800 or more yards from scrimmage and scored at least four touchdowns in all six of his healthy seasons—only missing those marks during an injury-shortened 2020 sophomore effort—and averages nearly 11 yards per touch on his career.
While Samuel wasn't a great fit in Washington and was limited by the lack of talent under center following Jayden Daniels' injury woes, he still managed to score six touchdowns on just 89 touches in 2025. He was a YAC machine—nearly two-thirds of his receiving yardage came after the catch—and he can be relied on to churn respectable gains if he gets the ball in space at his next stop.
Any team seeking a versatile weapon who can line up at multiple offensive positions, as well as contribute on special teams, should have interest in Samuel.
Potential Landing Spots: Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots
WR Stefon Diggs

B/R Scouting Department Rank: No. 47
Stefon Diggs' offseason began with the New England Patriots releasing him following a Super Bowl appearance.
The cloud of a legal battle stemming from a pay dispute and assault claim by his private chef hung over the veteran receiver's free-agency foray, but Diggs was found not guilty of the charges earlier this month.
Now that those court proceedings are in the rearview, it's rather surprising that the wideout hasn't found a new team.
While he had injury issues ahead of the 2025 season—having suffered a torn ACL midway through the 2024 campaign—those concerns were largely assuaged when Diggs appeared in all 21 of New England's regular season and playoff contests.
Production hasn't been an issue for Diggs throughout his career and wasn't a problem for him last season. He bounced back from the knee injury to post his seventh 1,000-yard receiving line of the last eight seasons, finishing the year with 1,013 yards and four touchdowns on 85 catches.
While Diggs is getting up there in age (he'll turn 33 in November) and no longer boasts elite speed, the receiver still has the potential to be a high-value contributor due to his top-tier route-running skills and ability to create separation. Adding him to an offense that features another dominant wideout, one who can open Diggs up to work against single coverage, could be a fruitful pairing.
Diggs may understandably be taking his time choosing his next team. The four-time Pro Bowler and 2020 All-Pro has racked up many individual accolades during his decorated NFL tenure, but the Lombardi Trophy has thus far eluded him. A chance to win a championship could be the key factor in his free agency decision.
Potential Landing Spots: Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders
Edge Joey Bosa

B/R Scouting Department Rank: No. 41
Joey Bosa's best football may be behind him, but any concerns about the edge-rusher's ability to perform at a high level can be put to rest following the rejuvenating season he just had with the Buffalo Bills.
After a rough stretch between 2022-23 where he appeared in just 14 of a possible 34 contests, Bosa finally managed to shake the injury bug in 2024. While the Los Angeles Chargers still elected to move on from their 2016 first-rounder after his fifth Pro Bowl campaign (and first since 2021), the Bills happily plucked the veteran off the open market and got another great season out of him.
While Bosa didn't earn another Pro Bowl nod, he did start 15 games and contributed 29 tackles, five sacks and a league-leading five forced fumbles. According to Pro Football Focus, Bosa ranked top-30 amongst edge rushers with 47 total pressures, tallying 30 hurries, 12 QB hits and two batted passes.
Perhaps most importantly to his prospects for 2026 and beyond, Bosa played nearly two-thirds of Buffalo's defensive snaps. Considering he hadn't logged a snap share higher than 54 percent since 2021, it was promising to see the once injury-ravaged defender return to playing a key role for a quality defense.
Working against Bosa is a glut of serviceable edge rushing talent lingering on the open market, but the 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year stands as a cut above his unemployed peers.
Whether a team plans to use him as a rotational depth option or a higher-volume starter, Bosa still provides enough speed, power and skill to move the needle for any defense ahead of his 11th NFL season.
Potential Landing Spots: Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers
OT Taylor Decker

B/R Scouting Department Rank: No. 36
The 2026 NFL offseason opened with the stunning announcement that the Detroit Lions were parting ways with their longest-tenured player, Taylor Decker.
While Decker's dismissal—one he requested after contract talks broke down—left a massive void in Detroit's lineup, it also opened the door for another team to add a stalwart protector at the offensive tackle position.
Decker may not be the best tackle in football, but he's been consistently reliable for a long time. The 2016 first-round draft pick has started 140 games and played over 9,000 offensive snaps during his decade-long career, finally breaking through and earning an overdue Pro Bowl nod in 2024.
Although Decker had a bit of a down season in 2025—allowing 33 pressures, giving up a pair of sacks and being flagged for five penalties according to Pro Football Focus—he's still good enough at the age of 32 to be an instant upgrade at LT for several franchises.
It's mildly surprising Decker has yet to sign with a new team, but it would be an absolute shocker if he hasn't been scooped up by the start of training camp. Decker is a quality starter who can contribute at a serviceable level for a Super Bowl hopeful, making him one of the best possible free-agent targets left standing.
