How Many Votes Did Luka Doncic Get for 2025-26 NBA MVP? Full Voting Results Revealed as SGA Wins
Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Dončić did not receive a single first-place vote in the MVP voting as revealed on Sunday, though he did receive one second-place vote, eight third-place votes, 60 fourth-place votes and 23 fifth-place votes.
He ultimately finished a distant fourth in the voting behind Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Denver's Nikola Jokić and San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama.
Dončić, 27, had a fantastic season when healthy, averaging an NBA-leading 33.5 points along with 8.8 assists and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from three in 64 games.
While he didn't meet the 65-game threshold required for league awards, the NBA ultimately granted him an exception after he appealed based on the "extraordinary circumstances" clause in the collective bargaining agreement.
"The NBA and NBPA agreed that, taking into account the totality of the circumstances for [Cade] Cunningham and Dončić, each player qualified for awards," the league and union said in a joint statement last month.
Dončić based his appeal on missing two games in December after traveling abroad for the birth of his daughter.
"I am grateful to the NBPA for advocating on my behalf and to the NBA for their fair decision," he wrote on social media in April. "It was so important to me to be present for the birth of my daughter in December and I appreciate Mark Walter, Jeanie Buss, Rob Pelinka, JJ Redick and the entire Lakers organization for fully supporting me and allowing me to travel to be there. This season has been so special to me because of what my teammates and I have been able to accomplish, and I am honored to have the opportunity to be considered for the league's end-of-season awards."
