5-Star Center Isaiah Hill Reveals CBB Commitment Between Purdue, Louisville
Purdue men's basketball coach Matt Painter has secured one of the highest-ranked recruits in the 2027 class.
Five-star center Isaiah Hill announced Friday he has committed to Purdue over other finalists, including Louisville.
Hill is listed as the No. 13 national recruit and No. 2 center by 247Sports composite rankings.
He is also ESPN's highest-ranked prospect to commit to Purdue since at least 2007, per Jeff Borzello.
Indiana, Notre Dame and Oregon also made offers to Hill prior to his commitment to Purdue.
Hill, listed at 7'0" and 205 pounds out of Pike High School in Indianapolis, was described by 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein as "a budding modern day big man."
"He's one of the best natural rim protectors in high school basketball, a major lob threat, and has touch and shooting potential to develop facing the basket," Finkelstein wrote.
According to Finkelstein, Hill has a 7'3.5" wingspan and "appears to still be growing, based on measurements from the fall and spring of his junior season."
Hill is also relatively young for his class, given that he won't turn 18 until August 2027.
The center averaged around 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game during his junior high school season, per On3's Brian Neubert.
He also helped lead his Nike EYBL team, the Indy Heat, to the 16-under championship last summer.
Painter is looking up to follow a strong class of 2026 commits, which is listed as No. 8 in the nation by 247Sports composite rankings.
Purdue could potentially have multiple 7-foot big men already on the roster by the time Hill makes it to college in Daniel Jacobsen, who is currently heading into his third year with the program, and Sinan Huan, a four-star Class of 2026 commit.
Painter led the Boilermakers as far as the national final with Zach Edey on the roster in 2024. After watching Aday Mara lead Michigan to a title this spring, he could be hoping targeting more skilled bigs will help keep Purdue in title contention going forward.
