It was clearly a very popular pick among Kings fans at the team watch party:
Darius Acuff took the the college basketball world by storm in March, leading Arkansas to an SEC tournament title before averaging 29.3 points and 5.3 assists per game in the NCAA tournament as the Razorbacks reached the Sweet 16.
Now he's off to the NBA. Let's take a look at his college highlights and scouting report for Sacramento's newest guard.
Highlights
Scouting Report
B/R's Jonathan Wasserman compared Acuff to former NBA star Stephon Marbury, noting that "Neither are big or explosive, but they're shifty and physical attacking the rim. They initiated and took contact on drives. They stepped into threes and mid-range jumpers with the same type of mechanics. However, based on assist and turnover numbers at the same age, Acuff appears to be a more polished playmaker and decision-maker than Marbury was at Georgia Tech."
Wasserman noted Acuff's strengths are his shot-making diversity, his ability to be a floor general at the point guard position and his off-ball offense. His weaknesses are his defense, lack of explosion and a tendency to settle for tough shots.
